Hiring Disabled People Training

Hiring disabled people has many benefits; diversity of thought, more innovation, ability to relate to a wider range of customers and clients…

Celebrating Disability developing strategies with Surrey Police with people in the workplace

Hiring disabled people has many benefits; diversity of thought, more innovation, ability to relate to a wider range of customers and clients…  but for many businesses, the challenges come when understanding how to attract disabled people to roles.

EvenBreak published a report late in 2019.  Their findings showed that for many disabled candidates looking for work, it wasn’t that they were underqualified for roles but recruitment structures were not considering what needs to happen when hiring disabled people.

Long before the interview occurs, there are many strategies that can be implemented into the recruitment process to ensure disabled candidates can successfully apply for a role.

This Hiring Disabled People Session will introduced delegates to many of the barriers that prevent disabled candidates moving through the application and interview process.  We will then find ways to mitigate these for your specific organisation.

We will briefly explore bias in recruitment to understand how perceptions held by hiring managers can prevent them from seeing the potential in disabled candidates.
Finally, we will explore communication methods that support disabled candidates to feel confident to apply for your roles whilst envisioning themselves in your workplace.

All Celebrating Disability training sessions are interactive in style.  Designed to never be “death by PowerPoint”, delegates will be encouraged to engage and participate in conversation.  Esi encourages delegates to ask questions throughout and adopts a “no question is a silly question” approach.

In order to embed learning, tailored fictional case study scenario based exercises will be used to ensure ideas presented are tangible and realistic.
