Accessibility & Inclusion During Events

There is a difference between accessibility and inclusion; when creating inclusive events, we can ensure that disabled people can attend and engage on their own terms.

Accessibility and inclusion work best when they are thought about together.  This is definitely the case when creating events and meetings.  It is not unusual for a disabled person (or a person who is less confident) to attend an event but still not engage and interact in the discussion and activities.  This can be because the event host or event team do not have the knowledge and awareness to ensure that it is accessible and inclusive of everyone – including disabled people.

In the online world we currently find ourselves in, many disabled people are feeling more connected and engaged.  One reason for this is that taking events online has created accessibility for many disabled people who cannot access events that have limited accessibility in a physical space.

All of the above is not just relevant for your disabled guests and customers; it’s also very relevant for your disabled employees.  In a meeting, in the office and at corporate events, if your disabled employees cannot access the conversation, they cannot be part of innovation.

Exploring both digital and face-to-face events,  this Accessible & Inclusive Events training session will support you and your delegates to understand the barriers that prevent disabled people from participating and engaging.  We will then work together to find solutions that meet your specific organisation to ensure that barriers can be mitigated.

All Celebrating Disability training sessions are interactive in style.  Designed to never be “death by PowerPoint”, delegates will be encouraged to engage and participate in conversation.  Esi encourages delegates to ask questions throughout and adopts a “no question is a silly question” approach.
In order to embed learning, tailored fictional case study scenario based exercises will be used to ensure ideas presented are tangible and realistic.
